Proud to be from Sussex today...

...after reading the weekend vote totals from the GOP convention. The Sussex County delegation voted 79 to zero for Jan Ting, law professor and expert on the subject of immigration and national security - and against Mike Protack, airline pilot and admitted transgressor of campaign finance laws. In all, Ting captured 268 votes to Protack's 53, which leaves me to wonder how 53 of Protack's blood relatives were selected as delegates.

As Protack continues his death march toward irrelevance by vowing to continue to a primary in September I'd like to issue this challenge to him. I can only hope it will be crossposted at Dana Garrett's Delaware Watch, where Protack appears to receive his most fervent support.

Mr. Protack - do you solemnly swear to forgo any further runs for public office should this Senate run fail? If you truly wish to strengthen the Republican Party, you should consider the idea of not dividing it and bleeding it of valuable resources.

Now Rick, you know by now that Protack will be running in 2008 as well. Maybe for President this time? Oh, boy!
